Meet Glenn
My story is a version of the American Dream. I was born and raised in Sunnyvale then joined the Marine Corps right out of high school. In the Corps, I trained as a Computer Programmer. After completing my service and being Honorably Discharged, I had a long, successful career with stints at Charles Schwab, Visa International, a Start-up with a successful IPO, eBay and PayPal as a programmer and Program Management Executive.
Through all this, my wife and I raised three awesome kids. In approximately 2007, I started getting involved in Sunnyvale politics via the Personnel Board and Planning Commission. In 2013, I ran for City Council and served on the Council for nine years. For three of those years, I served as Sunnyvale’s Mayor. I also served on the VTA Board of Directors, and was the Chairman in 2021. I also served two years on the Cal Train Board of Directors. I retired from the private sector in 2018 and from the public sector in 2023.
All of these experiences have trained me to manage budgets, make decisions with incomplete information, balance resources against objectives and performance metrics. I have been involved in policy decisions for Public Safety and housing. I believe Program Management is about managing current tasks, but more importantly trying to look ahead and plan for and mitigate risks. Be proactive.
My wife and I moved to Saratoga the day after I was termed out of the Sunnyvale Council. We enjoy a quiet, peaceful life in Saratoga.
